Busy bee!

It has been a BUSY couple of months both at work and at home! We only have two months of Summer here in Newfoundland and of course EVERYBODY is getting married in July and August. So far we have either printed, cut or assembled at least 4500 wedding invitations since January at The Paperie – and that doesn’t include the second half of this month – at least another 1200 to go for April and I can’t even tell you how many in May.

It seems every minute of my day is consumed with weddings – both at home and at work. Would you believe that in my “free” time I actually spend hours googling wedding invitation ideas and colour story boards? It’s my latest obsession – if I ever get married, I’m going to be in trouble with all of these ideas brewing.

We are also busy planning for our Spring Scrapbook Retreat (May 13-15th) AND I was reunited with Jenn Shurkus this past weekend when The Paperie brought her in to teach COPIC & LuminArte Classes! I wore my flip-flops just for her 🙂

Anyhow, I just thought I would pop on to let y’all know that I’m still alive and with the exception of 10 cupcake cards, I haven’t made any other cards in 2011! Ack! My other big news is that I am moving to my very own bachelor apartment on May 1st so I am hoping that once I get my little crafty space set up and move my laptop AWAY from that space, I will be much more productive – we’ll see!

OH! I also designed my FIRST EVER business logo for one of my co-workers! And I got paid for it! I can now pretend I am a freelance designer, hehe 🙂

Hope you are all well!

I’m going to Orlando!

Guess what! The Paperie is sending me to Orlando to take classes and attend a trade show! I really appreciate Chris & Janna’s continued support to make me the best instructor that I can be. I will be attending COPIC classes with Chris, one of the owners of The Paperie and we will be ready to teach you more about these wonderful markers in the Fall – I can’t wait!

We are also taking classes with TIM HOLTZ! But the excitement doesn’t stop there; I’m taking a class from Claudine Hellmuth of Ranger, and both Chris and I will take classes with Sally Traidman of Hero Arts! We are actually signed up for over 15 classes altogether and can’t wait to bring back some exciting class ideas to The Paperie.

When my mom told me to find my passion and turn it into a career, she really knew what she was talking about. I ♥ stamps. I have a secret ambition to one day illustrate a stamp line. I always joke that if I knew how to draw, I wouldn’t stamp but that’s not quite true – I actually can draw! I’d just rather stamp. 🙂

Everything’s (almost) Rosy…

Hi folks – sorry I’ve been on the missing list lately, it’s been a crazy month and I haven’t had a lot of downtime so I haven’t been feeling very creative. I expect that is about to change as my stamps from the “Everything’s Rosy” collection are enroute to me as I type! Yay! I’ve waited a long time to buy these stamps, I really should have ordered them immediately at the end of April but I had to wait for payday, then they ran out of stock TWICE in a row (‘cos they are just THAT hot). I know these beauties are going to be worth the wait, I have been admiring everyone elses creations from the big reveal earlier this month. Check them out below!

Loot Alert!

I’ve been getting a lot of questions from Paperie patrons and class participants about my trip to Seattle – guess what the most common query has been…

WHAT DID YOU BUY?!

“A lot” is the answer, but a picture is worth a thousand words so here’s a glimpse of my loot (sorry for the glare – I was too excited to take a decent picture)…

See those awesome Monogram frames (acrylic stamps)? Julie Ebersole designed those for A Muse, along with a few other stamps from the latest release – how cool is that?
